Dr. Brian Brendan Michael John Mackenzie-Hanson, BA (Hons), DD, MIOP, acOSB, is one mean character! A
Yorkshireman with Royal
and Scottish Highland blood! A descendant and heir of the Mackenzie Lairds of
Strathgarve
in Scotland (carrying forward the name of “Mackenzie” from that family),
also descended from the Lords Mackenzie of Kintail, Earls Stewart of Atholl, King Kenneth
III (of Scotland), Dukes of Norfolk, King Edward I Longshanks and King John “Lackland”. Brian was born on
a Monday in June 1969, baptised and confirmed in the Parish of St. Mary’s, Cottingham, East Yorkshire,
first ordained in 1987 and became a Doctor of Divinity in 2005. Brian spent much of his early childhood in Scotland and Germany. He has
green eyes, is 6ft 1in tall, weighs about 17st 3lb,
and wears size thirteen shoes.
Education
Educated at
Radcliffe High School in Manchester, Riley Technical High School & 6th Form
in Hull, Hull College of Further
Education, Manchester Metropolitan University, the McCormick Seminary College
and Leeds Metropolitan University.
Possesses an IQ of 155 and is believed to speak several languages including:-
English
Scottish Gaelic
German
Russian
French
He occasionally reads the Runes for some of his friends at parties. He has a 70mm grouping with 5.56mm rifle (SA 80) at 300 meters, could down a yard of ale in 10.2 s (when in the army! - slow!) although he now prefers Old English Cider, Italian or Spanish Red Wine, a wee draft of Glen Ord double malt Whisky or occasionally a Vodka & Martini (shaken not stirred!); in moderation of course! Not a coffee drinker but does enjoy a nice cup of decaffeinated tea (with plenty skimmed milk but no sugar). Brian likes eating out with family and friends, but does not drink to excess and does not eat any kind of pork or non-Piscean seafood (a Messianic / Leviticus thing!).
He has a sense of humour, a terrible memory for names but an uncanny ability to analyse and solve problems.
He has a habit of head-butting Castles especially
ones like Castle Leod near Strathpeffer when being shown around by
the Earl of Cromartie (the chief of
the Clan Mackenzie), Brian banged his head with some force on a medieval stone
lintel when crouching
through a low door (“Och m’heed”!); Lord Cromartie remarked that the Castle had given him a real
Mackenzie greeting! Shortly afterwards Brian’s signature in the visitor’s book
was rather wobbly!
Always on the move
He has been sighted bimbling around Hessle,
Cottingham, Beverley, York, Selby, Hull, Leeds, London,
Manchester, Altrincham, St Albans, Newcastle, Whitby, Catterick Garrison,
Pennally, Volgodonsk,
Rostov-on-Don, Moscow, Bonn, Hamburg, Köln, Northeim, Osnabrück,
Venice, Dungannon, Edinburgh, Kincardine, Fort
William, Lochgilphead and especially around Kintail, Applecross, Strathconon, Strathgarve,
Muir-of-Ord, Dingwall, Strathpeffer and
Inverness, sometimes wearing a kilt and carrying a large DPM rucksack or
SwissGear Haversack and a Claymore!

A fan of Hull Sharks (Rugby) and Manchester United (football) teams. Shachmati: Brian enjoys a game a Chess or Draughts and has only once been beaten at draughts, which was by his late Russian father in law: Evgeniy Alexandrovich Vshivkov. A devout animal lover, Brian’s mum bread pedigree Cocker Spaniels for many years during his childhood, canines will always feature in Brian’s life. Brian’s last dog was, Heidi, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross (Staffie x (Doberman x Boston)), see picture below. Heidi died in June 2004 at the age of 16 years, see Heidi’s page. Brian would love to find a Cocker Spaniel puppy descended from Bonny and Luger, the pedigree breeding pair that his Mum had years earlier.
