"The Siamese Twins"

This picture of Siamese Twins was restored (see below) to clean the image slightly and to replace parts of the image that were lost or torn.

The original photograph was taken in Hamburg, Germany during the 1850s when photography was a modern invention. The Twins, joined at the hip, had been very carefully looked after and lived until they were about 17 years of age, which was a long time for that era.
